Morris Day and The Time to Headline Jazz at Drew in South Los Angeles on 9/21
LOS ANGELES, CA – The legendary Morris Day and The Time has been announced as the headlining act for this year’s highly-anticipated Jazz at Drew concert on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The event will take place on the campus of Charles R. Drew University of Â鶹´«Ã½Å®Íøºì (CDU) in South Los Angeles. This exciting addition to the lineup of the 23rd Jazz at Drew festival overall and the first since 2019, is sure to electrify the stage and make this year’s event one to remember.
Morris Day, the charismatic frontman, is best known for his breakout role in the cult-classic film Purple Rain and his chart-topping hits like “Jungle Love,” “The Bird,” and “Get It Up.” With a career spanning decades, Day has established himself as a pioneering figure in the world of funk and R&B, renowned for his showmanship, smooth vocals, and undeniable swagger. His live performances are a high-energy experience, filled with infectious grooves, flashy fashion, and captivating dance moves that have kept audiences on their feet for generations.
Morris Day and The Time will headline a Jazz at Drew lineup that also includes Grammy-winning guitarist Norman Brown, the eclectic Lao Tizer Band featuring Eric Marienthal, the Grammy-nominated vocal group DW3, and the dynamic R&B sensation Erin Stevenson. Talented local artist J.Anthny, who is part of the Â鶹´«Ã½Å®ÍøºìInformation Technology department, will be the opening act.
Jazz at Drew, produced and hosted by CDU, not only offers an unforgettable musical experience but also serves a greater purpose.
